Restorative Yoga for Beginners

Have you heard of Restorative Yoga, but don't know what exactly that means?
❔Are you feeling depleted of energy?🙋♀️
❔Do you need some downtime to just relax?🙋♀️
❔Have you thought about trying yoga out, but don’t know where to start?🙋♀️
Well, then you have come to the right place. I'm here to break down the fundamentals about what Restorative Yoga is (as well as what it is not)!
In the society in which we live, there tends to be such a focus on being highly productive and on-the-go all the time. BUT, what about the need to relax and restore our mind and body ?!?!?
Restorative yoga is a great practice for those that are new to yoga, as well as those that have a long-standing yoga history/practice.
For those that are new to Restorative Yoga, the intent is that you are put into poses/shapes designed to allow you to fully relax, which allows your body to restore. With any pose, the goal is that no part of your body is directly touching the ground; rather, it is fully supported by props. Note, this practice does require you to heavily utilize yoga props, but I also provide you with other alternatives if you don't have any available.
✅4-6 Blankets (not super lightweight & soft, rather heavier & thick blankets are better for folding purposes)
✅Eye mask/pillow
✅2 Blocks = Books
✅Large Bolster = Couch cushion
Here are some of my recommendations that you can easily find on Amazon:
✅ If you are new to this practice, I HIGHLY recommend the book Restorative Yoga for Beginners.
✅ Basic rectangle restorative yoga bolster and cover (although I do recommend investing in a few bolsters if you plan on taking up this practice--which I am positive you would benefit from!!!)
✅ Round bolster (grey)
✅ Authentic Mexican blankets, which are excellent for your Restorative practice
If you ever have any questions about this tranquil practice or about appropriate props, please do not hesitate to reach out. I especially love to help those who are new to Restorative Yoga!
